Lady Gaga's friends threw her a surprise birthday party in Los Angeles Sunday night March 27, the night before her concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center. Her actual birthday was Monday, the night of the concert. She turned 25.
But why wasn't her party held the actual night of her birthday? Because a trendy Los Angeles gay nightclub wouldn't give up their Mexican Restaurant!!!
The private surprise party was held at dive Mexican restaurant, La Cita at 336 S. Hill St., which just happens to be the location of one of Los Angeles' most fun nightclubs, "Mustache Mondays". This trendy underground gay nightclub has been running at La Cita for 2 years, and Gaga's concert/birthday Monday night was a very special night because it was the final night of the club at this location before it moves on to a much larger space, the Belasco Theatre at 1050 S. Hill St.
Would they give up the club Monday night for her birthday party? HELL NO! According to DJ @JoshPeace, Lady Gaga TRIED to buy out La Cita Monday night but he refused to shut down Mustache Mondays for her party, so she did it on Sunday night instead.
We love our Gaga, but she can only take over our club venues for private parties on the nights we don't need them!
During her birthday party at La Cita, Lada Gaga performed the Mexican version of "Born This Way" with La Cita's Mariachi band.
